Chief Sub-edior, The Telegraph Graphiti/ Weekend, India

Feb 1998 - May 2005

Owned by ABP Pvt Ltd, one of the oldest publishing houses in India, The Telegraph is the largest circulated English daily in eastern India, with a circulation figure of about 350,000.

In-charge of the editorial production team for both the Sunday magazine, Graphiti, and the Saturday lifestyle features section, Weekend Telegraph – right from assigning and chasing up stories, editing copies, referencing from the library, ideating with the graphic designers to making pages using Quark Xpress, proofing the final pages and ensuring timely publication.
Line management across 12 member team comprising reporters, sub-editors, photographers and graphic designers spread over 3 cities.
Image management, including sourcing from the library as well as briefing photographers.
Research and write articles for Graphiti and Weekend Telegraph.

Achievements: Joined as a trainee and worked my way up as a sub-editor, a senior sub-editor to being a chief sub-editor in 4 years time. Maintained deadlines so well that our team became a leading example for all other departments to follow. The improved content of Graphiti helped the circulation figure to shoot up from 200,000 to 350,000.
